A bumbling trio of longtime college students (Al Ritz, Harry Ritz, Jimmy Ritz) dream of football stardom, but the hapless trifecta are barely offered any time on the field. Meanwhile, football star George Black (Nat Pendleton) is ruled ineligible for college athletics after it is revealed that he once played as a professional. With no one else to turn to and the biggest game of the year fast approaching, coach Tim O'Hara (Fred Stone) reluctantly starts designated benchwarmers the Ritz Brothers.
