Synopsis
Directed by veteran filmmaker Mel Stuart, this documentary surveys American cinema history from the 1930s to the '70s. With segments hosted by Henry Fonda, Shirley MacLaine and Liza Minnelli, the production explores various movie genres, including film noir and Westerns, and focuses specifically on 1939, arguably the finest year in movie history. In addition to looking at numerous classic films, the documentary explores the cultural impact of some iconic movies.
