Audience Member This movie is beyond bad. No, I'm not one of those people who requires a Hollywood ending or a movie to shed some positive light at the end of films to show some amount of hope. The one (and ONLY) thing redeeming about this movie is that there isn't an ounce of hope in it. Sometimes life just sucks, and this movie shows the worst of life. Unfortunately it also shows some of the worst performances and directing I've ever seen. The movie is just plain bad. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent movie. Washington and Rasuk gave brilliants performances. Not a movie for the masses. Most will not be able to relate to the characters. This is not a feel good story. It's about real life and there are no happy endings. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A insight into the lives of different people who live in cracktown, as well as the struggles they go through. It was entertaining to some degree but it was had to identify with most of the characters except the shop keeper & the young boy but it was also difficult. Not a great movie. Glenn Whipp Los Angeles Times While Giovinazzo's crude approach undercuts his occasional stab at gravitas, Cracktown's cast keeps things in the ballpark of relatable humanity. Rated: 3/5 Jul 1, 2009 Full Review Tim Cogshell Boxoffice Magazine One part Crash and one part Menace II Society. Rated: 3/5 Jun 26, 2009 Full Review Clay Cane BET.com There are no positive characters in Cracktown. No voice of reason; just the reality of dire circumstances, which cannot be tied up in a pretty Hollywood bow. Rated: B+ Jul 2, 2009 Full Review Wilson Morales BlackFilm.com Aside from tremendous performances given by Washington and Rasuk, the bleakness in 'Cracktown' doesn't offer a solution that leaves a positive outlook on life. Rated: 2/4 Jun 26, 2009 Full Review Geoff Berkshire Metromix.com About as credible as a middle school production of Death of a Salesman. The unspectacular storylines plod along, dragged down by lackluster performances and sloppy direction. Rated: 1.5/5 Jun 25, 2009 Full Review Scott Foundas L.A. Weekly Life goes far past the boiling point for most of the characters in this hilariously overwrought ghetto soap opera from cult writer-director Buddy Giovinazzo.
