Audience Member The end was unsatisfying a bit and it was basically a shapeshifter love story but a totally new take on horror and the makeup and practical effects were awesome, old school, not CGI Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review robert p Lifechanger is an awesome movie with deep philosophy about finally getting what you want and then having it ripped away from you, but at the end of the movie he finally emerges as his true older self (which indicates his sins have been forgotten by God). This is a deeply profound movie even if a tad long. I give it 4 + 1/2 stars!!!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A bizarre and original story with a few flaws. A mysterious and creepy treat for those who enjoy horror. Lifechanger follows a serial killing shapeshifter who needs to change bodies so often or else he will die. A fun concept that can be explored in film. Yet, the implementation makes the low-budget nature of this film too obvious. From cheesy noise effects to random changes in pacing. This film tries to achieve much yet has flaws that can be suspense breaking. Yet, I respect that this film focuses less on jumpscare and more on suspense building. The blood and guts can be toned down and the film remain powerful. Conflict feels like it's dished out to the audience instead of a more natural flow. If only the directors knew to rely less on cheaper effects for more powerful storytelling. Acting is excellent throughout. Each character giving their own spin on the film. It's a bit tragic and sad with more emphasis on drama than horror. 2.5/5. Deserves a better retelling. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a great movie from front to back, the story was nothing I've ever heard before, I mean a life sucking shape Shifter that isn't a zombie or a vampire is refreshing.. Can't wait to see more from this talented director. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member interesting concept, decent execution at times, but it lacked direction and portions of the score were absolutely unbearable. they needed a better indicator of when a person was possessed, because going through so many characters made the movie hard to keep track of and the protagonist hard to identify with. i know that a lack of identity is sort of the point but it didn't click for me. the movie isn't unwatchable, but it could use a lot of improvement. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member It tries to connect emotionally but doesn't quite get there. There's some originality, but the characters are never fully delivered, and it ends with a grasping bit of psychobabble that does no one any service. Should have left the soliloquy off at the end. Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting It's well shot and delivers on gooey, slimy practical effects. It might be a little too fast-paced, though; as the tragic love story at the heart of the film is never given much time for the emotional beats to fully resonate. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 3, 2019 Full Review Garnet Fraser Toronto Star Nothing detracts from the cracking pace that an 84-minute movie demands. Even the gore is efficient. Rated: 3/4 Dec 27, 2018 Full Review Kristy Puchko Riot Material Lifechanger is a lean, mean, and intense dose of shapeshifter horror with a chilling message perfectly suited to the complex conversations of the Me Too era. Jul 27, 2018 Full Review Alix Turner Ready Steady Cut Drew is a shapeshifter who copies other people, killing them in the process. Not an easy lifestyle to maintain (or explain), if he is to reconnect with the woman he loved most. Rated: 4/5 Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The film's strong points are on the human side and director McConnell recognizes this and lets the cast take the forefront while the visual style, the music, and the special effects take a back seat and let them do what they do best. Rated: 4/5 Apr 11, 2020 Full Review Terry Mesnard Gayly Dreadful Lifechanger is an effective, if slightly rushed, thriller that is as mercurial as our antihero.
