Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Nominated for best Action Choreography, it lost to Downtown Torpedoes. Exciting fire scenes, exhilarating finale. Worth a watch for fans of fire or Johnnie To. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member And you thought the characters in Ron Howard's "Backdraft" (1992) were as one-dimensional as a piece of cardboard that (literally) went up in flames on screen. Still, there's something to be said about the cast of "Lifeline" who wade through real fires for the sake of entertainment not having the luxury of a computer generated overhaul (though some CGI is present). In a moment of sheer irony star Lau Ching-wan, having just finished battling a formidable blaze, removes his oxygen mask and smokes a cigarette. Unfortunately, that's as close as Johnnie To comes to insight in this lukewarm fire fighting drama. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member So impressive when i watch it now... wish i could do more... and glad i have a chance to do sth... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The Asian equivalent of Backdraft. A group of firefighters have their personal issues collide as they go on small errands, and then have to deal with a giant factory fire as the film's climax. The movie does a good job of developing characters, before putting them in danger. One scene had me convinced the character was dead.Lots of heart tugging character development a plenty for a character driven drama.
