In Lights Out, a homeless veteran, Michael "Duffy" Duffield (Frank Grillo), meets a talkative Ex-Con, Max Bomer (Mekhi Phifer) who notices Duffy's skills after he gets into a bar fight and offers him a well-paying "job" competing in underground fight clubs. The pair form an unlikely partnership after their first fight and decide to travel to LA so Duffy can atone for his past and Max can pay back a crime boss, Sage Parker (Dermot Mulroney). Duffy enters Sage's fight club and eventually wins, but it also gets him tied up in the crime world and offered jobs he can't refuse, including one with Sage's partner and Police officer, Ellen Ridgway (Jaime King). The deeper Duffy goes in this world, the more deadly it gets.

Hilariously bad acting and super quick fights between old dudes. Thr plot is weak and there is no chemistry between anyone. Feels like a parody of a parody trying to be serious.

Fights are quick cut edited at a new world record pace. The military PTSD angle completely misses. Disappointed that this was more of a disjointed crime thriller with gunfights than an underground UFC thing.

If u like martial arts/action movies, it's a must see.. Frank grillo, mekhi phifer, and a couple UFC fighters.. If u don't like these type of movies, why click on it? It has a cage fight right on the movie poster son!

Lights Out can't decide if it wants to be a tournament fighter or a corrupt cop movie. I preferred the tournament fighter sections which reminded me of Van Damme's Lionheart. The action was edited too choppy for me to be able to recommend the film.
