After a mysterious space-race era satellite coincidentally falls from space and lands in his backyard, his midlife crisis manifests in a plan to rebuild the machine into his dream rocket. As his relationship with his wife (Rhea Seehorn) and daughter (Katelyn Nacon) start to strain, surreal events begin unfolding around him -- a doppelgänger moving into the house next door, a car falling from the sky, and an unusual teenage boy forging a friendship with him. Critics Consensus

A solid showcase for Jim Gaffigan as well as a sneakily ambitious dramedy, Linoleum adds another impressive entry to writer-director Colin West's filmography.

Kenton Such a great, wholesome story with many connecting themes. I fear people won't see this film because it doesn't have major backing. I am so grateful to the filmmakers for pushing through and getting this film created and released. Was a pleasure. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Kristin O While I enjoy a layered film, this one was disjointed and had no emotional impact. I didnt care about the characters and so didnt make the effort to unravel the convoluted plot. I wish I had the two hours of my life back. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/11/23 Full Review Alan R Kept me engaged wondering what was going on. Likable well developed characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/05/23 Full Review Jeannie This was an amazing fantastical movie that rooted in the human experience. The performances were superb and Jim Gaffigan should be nominated for best actor! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/05/23 Full Review L everything except the music score the script, actors, lighting, camera work, physical settings were immaculate the music composition was technically beautiful, but overplayed, and over loud when it did not need to be the plot is not so complicated that the music had to foreshadow as much as it did Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Andrew T Totally original, a one-off for sure, with terrific acting particularly Rhea Seehorn. But I think I need somebody to connect all the dots for me as t the end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture It’s a moving film about time, ambition, aging, wormholes, and the all-consuming power of love. And the film’s quaint, handmade qualities help make the tears it remorselessly jerks out of you feel like honest ones. Dec 9, 2023 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times The first-rate production design, the music by Mark Headley and the cinematography by Ed Wu all contribute to the feeling of a surrealist adventure that toggles between satirical comedy and something darker and much heavier. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 10, 2023 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian Gaffigan... is a constantly strong centre in the two roles. Rated: 3/5 Apr 10, 2023 Full Review Filipe Freitas Always Good Movies The unconventional screenplay examines repressed dreams, family issues and brain clogging with some caricatural undertones and a layered surrealism that serves well its narrative purpose. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 28, 2023 Full Review Farah Cheded A Good Movie To Watch This quasi-sci-fi indie plays its surreal events to deeply poignant effect... This is the kind of movie you’ll immediately want to rewind to absorb the full weight of. Rated: 77/100 Jul 27, 2023 Full Review Michael Cook KLRT-TV The ending for me is an absolute pay-off, which, of course, I will not give away. Jim Gaffigan, Rhea Seehorn, and Tony Shalhoub are some of these great actors that you really love seeing play, and play-off each other... I call it [the movie] a hidden gem.
