In the aftermath of World War II, Lisa Held, a Jewish survivor of a concentration camp, wants to settle in Palestine. Aiding her in her long journey is Inspector Peter Jongman, a determined Dutch officer. As Lisa and Peter embark on their voyage from the Netherlands to Palestine, they encounter numerous difficulties -- as well as some sympathetic people, including a ship captain, who helps them on their way.
