      Critics Consensus

It has a beautiful cast, but Little Ashes suffers from an uneven tone and a surplus of unintentionally silly moments.

Audience Member It was the next Rob Pattison's movie to see on my list, and now, after seeing it, I am obsessed with Lorca/Dali love/deep-friendship/whatever-it-was story (I intend to study the matter). Since high-school I found Dali and his art fascinating; now I want to know more about Lorca ... because of this movie. To the american critics who found the movie unworthy: you should get out of US more, go to Europe, broaden your horizon. US/commercialism is clouding your minds. Also, some of you picked on Rob's performance ... now, 12 years later, he proved you WRONG. He is an amazing, complicated, and complex actor - his name is on everybody's lips ... meanwhile, nobody knows you names. FIVE STARS!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A cursory homoseuxal romance of renowned Spanish poet Federico García Lorca and surrealist Salvador Dalí that is redeemed by luscious cinematography and a free-swinging performance from Robert Pattison. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Cute film that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Shot very well, the actors do an excellent job. I want to find out even more than just this story now. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Tragically uninspiring. Saddest part is post-Franco Spain co-produced it. Like why? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Its a film more about the history of Dali and Lorca than a cinematic engaging experience. The film lacks any dramatic impact but you do learn about these two great artists. The last half hour is very laughable when Dali has is moustache he looks ten years old, the make up team didn't do a very good job here, shame cos the ending would of been powerful. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Rob Pattinson was riviting, sensitive and nailed Dali. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2010 Full Review Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) The drawcard of Robert ''Twilight'' Pattinson as Dali is a mixed blessing for the filmmakers, given how ill-at-ease he is in the role. Javier Beltran, as Garcia Lorca, cast as the heroic centre of the film, cuts a more confident figure. Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2010 Full Review Kelly Jane Torrance Washington Times Matthew McNulty is commanding as Bunuel, but the sensitive Javier Beltran consistently steals the show as the tormented Lorca.
