      Audience Member Low budget, pulpy, sleazy, and cheesy, but also immensely entertaining. Wings' cowboy boot and denim wearing wise-guy ex-cop character is hilarious. The script is a little uneven- some cracks and jokes work and some reveal an amateurish hand. The ending is dark but effective. I also like the score, the shots, the performances of the supporting cast, and especially the tone, which really does make Living to Die seem like a pulpy noir from the days of gritty detective serials. Criminally underrated. Perhaps the most underrated action film of all time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Hot off the heels of his hilarious directorial debut with the action thriller Coldfire, Wings Hauser tempts fate again with his newly found directing "talents" with the follow-up Living to Die. In this hokey film, Hauser plays a former cop now playing private detective who comes in to help ultra-sleazy associate Asher Brauner, whose night with hooker Darcy DeMoss leads to her accidental drug overdose and death. The death brings out the snakes, specifically other sleazebags looking to blackmail Brauner for the murder. Hauser begins his investigation which leads to multiple murders of people he tries to question, but the biggest curveball comes in the form of DeMoss whose very much alive. Soon, Hauser and DeMoss start a relationship, and Hauser digs himself deeper when he attempts to turn on his sleazebag employer. This film is unintentionally hilarious and horribly out-dated. It's also nowhere near as entertaining as Hauser's previous film, Coldfire. We are graced with more screen-time from Hauser who cannot help but be charming (even if he himself does it in a bit of a sleazy manner). We also get to see the usual DeMoss nudity (who STILL looks freaking hot after all these years). To top things off, Living to Die has THE greatest ending ever, which happens to be one of the biggest and darkest downers I've ever watched, not to mentioned laughed at. It was almost surreal, given the flow of the rest of the movie. Overall, Living to Die is great for a laugh, but that's about it. Arnold vosloo(Wilson, the bad guy) was very young in this movie and u really can tell that. he looks like a teenager. so younge. very handsom. but its also sad because all he wants to do is find his little sister lisa. and ends up becomin tired and stressed nonetheless mad. and begins to kill people. great movie tho.
