Critics Consensus

A sharp and deceptively layered comedy that's further fueled by the odd couple chemistry of its leads, this Long Shot largely hits its marks.

Richard Brody The New Yorker The movie's lack of political substance empties out the relationship at its center; having little to work with and little to hold them together, the actors appear to be meeting each other for the first time in every scene. May 10, 2019 Full Review David Edelstein New York Magazine/Vulture I generally like Rogen a lot but this performance is bad - worse than it even seems because of the drain it is on the movie. May 7, 2019 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review Crass, but satirically-pointed...it's a film with benevolence, which likes its characters... May 6, 2019 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film The characters of Long Shot fly in the face of convention and deliver a breath of fresh air into a genre that has been stagnant for far too long. Rated: B+ Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) Accompanying the actors is a sly belter of a script that weaves comedy into its setting and characters effortlessly. Rated: 3/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Brittany Patrice Witherspoon Pop Culture Reviews ...it’s nothing short of a fantastic, adventurous journey through self-discovery, romance and a little 'politicking' in between. Keaton W Villainizes half of its audience. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/23/23 Full Review Victor C "This room is too bright" went downhill from there. I get it drugs are good but white men are bad YAWN.. Gross out stuff also not needed YUCK Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Frederick T This is truly one of Seth Rogen's better movies, he shows another side of himself, but it's missing some x factor if he really wanna match his other movie "Knocked up", that lies in the same ball park. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/10/24 Full Review Maria P Romantic comedy can still be smart and refreshing... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/30/24 Full Review Audience Member I cry and sob at the end. not a perfect movie ,but really really great romcom. Plot is new, chemistry is there. Love it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review Maribel W This is my comfort movie. Chalk full of grown up 90s humor and subtle jokes that never warrant an outloud laugh but still make you feel like you are a fly on the wall of a blossoming relationship and in that sense, are perfect. There are some parts that are absolutely hilarious and well delivered and other parts that are ridiculously unrealistic that it lets us know that this film doesn't take itself too seriously and the writers and actors aren't afraid to have fun.
