What to Know

Critics Consensus

More interested in the psychology of psychics than the veracity of their craft, Look Into My Eyes is an entertaining documentary that finds humanity in the supernatural.

Sam Adams Slate Whether or not you believe these psychics are communing with the dead—or, in one case, with the spirits of still-living animals—the interactions with their clients feel genuinely emotional in a way that is hard to dismiss entirely. Dec 20, 2024 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times Human connections are gifts, imagination is powerful and empathy isn’t a trick. These are the things “Look Into My Eyes” patiently communicates to us from its watchful perch. Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Thelma Adams AARP Movies for Grownups The emotional connections are frequently profound, intimate and, like the film itself, compelling. Rated: 4/5 Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Robert W. Butler Butler's Cinema Scene Look into My Eyes won’t convince anyone of anything. But the film does suggest that psychic readings may provide emotional benefits for both parties, irregardless of any paranormal implications. Maybe we’re looking at it all wrong. It’s therapy. Rated: B Dec 17, 2024 Full Review Weiting Liu The Brooklyn Rail What we as humans universally want regardless of fame or anonymity: to not feel alone in our pain, to have what we deserve—and that everything is going to be okay. Nov 4, 2024 Full Review Hayley Croke Loud and Clear Reviews Look Into My Eyes takes audiences on an intimate journey through the realm of New York City’s psychics to determine the truth behind the practice, address the skepticism towards them, and ultimately show the immeasurable value of human connection. Tyler G It is more a movie about the struggles, mental illnesses, and eccentricities of the individuals who see psychics in Ne York City than it is a movie examining the process or validity of readings/mediums. Even accepting it for what it is, I found it boring and far too long for its content. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/20/24 Full Review Greta G Awful. Long and dull. None of the "psychics" were interesting and most of them have what appear to be mental health issues. Several want to be actors and are taking acting lessons. That is what they are doing: pretending to be psychics. They aren't psychics. They are charlatans. The pet psychic isn't a true medium. She took a class (and by her own admission, is a former coke head). One of her clients (SPOILER ALERT) was an older woman who wanted the psychic to tell her why her dog won't let her take her out on a leash. So ridiculous. Don't go to a psychic, lady. Take your dog to a dog trainer. Most of the clients wanted advice and direction and would be better served seeing a licensed therapist. The psychics are practicing what amounts to therapy but they didn't go to graduate school and are not licensed. This could have been a great opportunity for real psychics to show what they do and how they help people. It failed on many levels. It was embarrassing and comical (and not in good way). Finally, Billy Joel's, "And So It Goes" was completely ruined by the psychic who "sang" it at the end. Thanks for nothing. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review John M This is not a movie about whether or not psychics are real. It is the universal human story about the search for answers, connection, understanding and direction. Does it really matter if it's real if it brings us peace. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review joel g If you have NEVER been, or never WILL goto a psychic or a clarivoyant, this movie will be a bore to you .. So avoid. Save ur $. But I have been to a psychic and think there is some validity to this.. I have had a very acurate reading that made me say " wtf?.. how did u know?".. But there are some bad psychics out there that speak in too many generalalities..and are very vague. For those viewers that are interested in this type of thing, this movie will hold a message.. So watch.. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Sybil S I found it boring and pointless. There was no moment - other than the guy who eats shrimp and the reader mentioning shrimp that showed anything really psychic. I've had several readings. No one ever asked why I was there or what I wanted to know. At time, it was confusing as to which one was the "psychic." If I'd never had a psychic reading, this would discourage me from ever doing it. It went on forever and went nowhere. There was nothing creative about the way it was put together.
