When Oliver (Ashton Kutcher) and Emily (Amanda Peet) meet on an airplane, they feel an instant connection, but agree that they're wrong for each other. As the years pass and they live their separate lives, fate brings them together several times, and they become close friends. Any time one of them wants more out of the relationship, the other seems content with just being friends. If they wait too long, Oliver and Emily may miss any chance of spending their lives together.

Empire Magazine Rated: 2/5 Jan 7, 2006 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) That's weird. I'm sure that When Harry Met Sally had been made already. And didn't it used to be funny? Rated: 2/5 Jul 5, 2005 Full Review Stella Papamichael BBC.com Although not as scathingly funny as the Ryan-Crystal classic, director Nigel Cole offers an engaging romance infused with the warmth and optimism of his previous films Calendar Girls and Saving Grace. Rated: 3/5 Jun 21, 2005 Full Review Eddie Harrison The List Although A Lot Like Love is advertised like a generic teen comedy, its failure to provide [Ashton Kutcher] with his fourth consecutive U.S. number one reflects the film's avoidance of pratfall-style gags in favor of slushy romantic sentiment. Rated: 2/5 Apr 24, 2019 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com This grueling, training-wheel romance comedy covers a six year stretch of time in which Generation Y boy toy Oliver Martin (Ashton Kutcher) slowly realizes that he can't wait for his life plans to gel before committing to his affection for his narcissist Rated: D Jun 19, 2009 Full Review Jim Lane Sacramento News & Review Rated: 2/5 Aug 7, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Daryl D Gotta make more romcoms like these. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review hannah c Amanda Peet is so full of charisma, and the chemistry between her and her character's counterpart, Oliver, is so palpable. It's not mushy or contrived, and it feels much more authentic and realistic to life. I have seen critics on this site compare it to "When Harry Met Sally", but this plot line is obviously more 90's, and much more relaxed. When Harry Met Sally is a love story about New York (and 'yuppy' New York at that...) as much as it is about Harry and Sally. I love the LA 'struggling artist' vibe in this movie. The characters are more all over the place, and that feels more real to me. Really entertaining and sweet; I watch this movie probably once a year. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Audience Member Underrated. Love them, great chemistry & nostalgic soundtrack of the time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/24 Full Review Danielle R Love this movie. It's funny and sweet and different enough from others in the genre. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review steve d A lot like a movie but not an effective one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member 2.7 definitely not bad at all Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/21 Full Review Read all reviews
