A monotonous life has pushed the unfulfilled Forrest (Todd Blubaugh) to a voyage of self-discovery by living aboard his sailboat on an alluring, Missouri lake. Director-and-everything-else Hawkins shows his talent on many levels, from eliciting effective performances from his tiny cast to showing a skilled cinematographers eye and talent as an editor. He is a fully formed filmmaker and I want to see more.

I found myself... simultaneously fascinated by Hawkins’ atypical storytelling and visual panache and mildly irritated by the film’s refusal to give us any sort of backstory that would tell us how our protagonists came to be the people they are.

Why is it that women are always the ones who bring about the fall of innocence? This is just another (misogynistic) retelling of the garden of Eden. A woman worth this guy's time--if he'd been mature enough to pick an emotionally healthy woman!--would have just gotten the abortion and that would have been the end of it. Or left him to get a job and strike out on her own. Instead we have another movie about a dumb guy experiencing the just rewards of not knowing how to assess another person's character before getting romantically attached.

The moment the movie started I was immersed in the story and lead characters. The acting was so honest, open, and raw. The cinematography was breathtaking - simply gorgeous. Director Trevor Hawkins is a rising star. The movie stayed with me for several days after I watched it. I highly recommend this film.

We saw a screening of this movie as a group at a theater in Kansas City, the area where it was filmed. We had a turnout of 150 people and the response was very positive. The photography and music score are excellent.
