Shikhar Verma High on Films I just wish there was more to its critic of the traditional way of living vs the characters choice. That would have made the tragic climax more palpable. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 8, 2022 Full Review Shawn Edwards Fox 4 Kansas City A sophistication and brilliance on display. Rated: 4/5 Feb 7, 2022 Full Review Russ Simmons KKFI-FM (Kansas City) While this low-key story doesnt quite fulfill its promise, Lotawana is nonetheless a smart and visually creative drama. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2022 Full Review Robin Clifford Reeling Reviews Director-and-everything-else Hawkins shows his talent on many levels, from eliciting effective performances from his tiny cast to showing a skilled cinematographers eye and talent as an editor. He is a fully formed filmmaker and I want to see more. Rated: B Feb 5, 2022 Full Review Robert W. Butler Butler's Cinema Scene I found myself... simultaneously fascinated by Hawkins’ atypical storytelling and visual panache and mildly irritated by the film’s refusal to give us any sort of backstory that would tell us how our protagonists came to be the people they are. Rated: B Feb 4, 2022 Full Review Laura Clifford Reeling Reviews a production that would be the envy of much larger budgeted films. "Lotawana" is beautiful, with strikingly edited montages escorted into the film by Ryan Pinkston's lovely piano score and top notch sound mix. Rated: B Jan 25, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

greg r Absolutely fantastic! Cinematography. Casting. Atmosphere. Story. All of it. Brilliant. This! Is art! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Steve S I was a journey of self discovery with surprising twists. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/22 Full Review Audience Member Why is it that women are always the ones who bring about the fall of innocence? This is just another (misogynistic) retelling of the garden of Eden. A woman worth this guy's time--if he'd been mature enough to pick an emotionally healthy woman!--would have just gotten the abortion and that would have been the end of it. Or left him to get a job and strike out on her own. Instead we have another movie about a dumb guy experiencing the just rewards of not knowing how to assess another person's character before getting romantically attached. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review cindi r The moment the movie started I was immersed in the story and lead characters. The acting was so honest, open, and raw. The cinematography was breathtaking - simply gorgeous. Director Trevor Hawkins is a rising star. The movie stayed with me for several days after I watched it. I highly recommend this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member We saw a screening of this movie as a group at a theater in Kansas City, the area where it was filmed. We had a turnout of 150 people and the response was very positive. The photography and music score are excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful! The cinematography is outstanding and sets every scene even without dialog. This is how you convey ‘feeling' in a motion picture - an art that is a rare find these days.
