Dave Kehr New York Times Love Forbidden ... falls back on a screenwriting convention for its unfortunately abrupt ending, but during its course it suggests that Mr. Marconi, whose second feature this is, possesses a talent and a sensibility likely to flower in the future. Rated: 3/5 Nov 6, 2003 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg Village Voice The facile, derivative mind games played here are probably more meaningful for Marconi than they will be for anyone else. Nov 4, 2003 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International Unfortunately plays out more like Student Video 101. Nov 11, 2003 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide The result is rather like eavesdropping on a bright but painfully self-absorbed adolescent's secret thoughts: sometimes fascinating, other times just infuriating. Rated: 2/5 Nov 7, 2003 Full Review E! Online Essentially meaningless bit of torpor. Rated: D Nov 7, 2003 Full Review Jon Popick Planet S Magazine The religious iconography and local architecture make up for the video quality and the flat, zombie-like acting of the supporting cast. Audience Member Una historia de obsesión, bastante bien llevada la temática, pero medio pelo. Un final raro. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member "Love Forbidden" is obsessed love but it's not "Fatal Attraction" thriller, more like "Death In Venice" slow drama. Rodolphe Marconi is a French visiting student in Rome. I liked the scenes of Rome and director Marconi uses the ancient statues, dark photography, and exotic locations to create dread. We wait for the outcome but not much happens which might infuriate some viewers. The movie is best enjoyed as a poem on unrequited love. Marconi is a photogenic actor who, an audience can relate to. However, you have to wonder why he doesn't try to get other gay lovers and why the less appealing Matteo (played by bland Andrea Necci) is so irresistible. Echo Danon is engaging as the American girl but she is so weird that one might think she wandered from a zombie movie. I may be rating this one too high but blame it on my interest in the movie's themes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I fucking love this film! Simple and very deep! What an end to.. The fact that it's trilingual is a massive plus! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen, but I do give it credit for being the first movie that I've seen that it's so bad in 4 different languages. French, Italian, English, and songs in Spanish. The story is the typical unrequited love one, becoming a love triangle, with two really intense characters and one that doesn't really seem to care about anything in the middle. Been there, seen that...however, first time in 4 languages though. I definitely do NOT recommend this one! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member echo danon saves this film. the directing is sub par and self indulgent, so is the performance and writing and editing of this poorly constructed film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
