Audience Member I really enjoyed the romantic comedy "Love, Sex & Missed Connections". I was impressed to see how well the film was produced considering its low budget. While watching the film, one thing that stood out to me was that all of the characters played a significant role in Neal's (Kenny Stevenson) post breakup life after he caught his ex-girlfriend sleeping with his ex-best friend. All of the characters had a strong connection, and they were able to play well off of each other. Talk about how they added comic relief. I found this to be especially true with Neal's friends Barry (Shane Elliott) and George (Alex Enriquez) who just wanted to get their friend back out in the real world and forget about his ex-girlfriend. Neal and his friends balance each other out perfectly because Neal is more reserved and realistic, but his friends are funny and a little wild. The plan goes great until he meets Jane (Dorien Davies) who is playing a similar game with men. The characters added a good sense of comic relief to the film while also showing the real emotions that come from a break up, and the doubts that come from starting a new relationship. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This indie romantic comedy is a fun watch because of its fast pace humor as well as it's unique story line. The movie follows Neal, played by Kenny Stevenson, through his recent break up. Love, Sex and Missed Connections offers some innovative twists and turns in the romcom genre as it dives into modern day digital ways of dating. I enjoy the playful directing by Eric Kissack, who uses his editing style from films like Daddy's Home and Horrible Bosses, which allows for a great paced movie as well as extremely on point and structured comedy. The film is a light-hearted, funny watch that is easily digestible. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The comedic dialogue in this movie plays well with the romance and drama that Neal (Kenny Stevenson) must handle after the roughest kind of breakup. Stevenson cleverly uses the chemistry of the actors and actresses throughout all of the witty banter, scheming, and more heartfelt or serious moments to make it feel like I could step into the scene and join the crowd of onlookers. ‘Love, Sex, and Missed Connections' takes the expected tropes of a romcom for a creative spin that many may find refreshing. It's an enjoyable watch, especially if you're looking for an original, feel-good flick. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Love, Sex, and Missed Connections is a hilarious fresh-take on a romantic comedy. Director Eric Kissack's profound editing skills keep the film upbeat and locked me into the screen. The film does a great job of making the audience forget about their own lives for an energetic 77 minutes and completely dive into the life of Neal (Kenny Stevenson) while he tries to get over his last breakup. The chemistry between Neal and Jillian is undeniable, but both are too scared to get hurt again after failed past relationships making you question if they are right for eachother. I loved the twists that were presented throughout the film making this anything but your typical romantic comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member With excellent chemistry amongst cast members, Love, Sex, & Missed Connections is a gratifying watch that combines an unconventional romance with a witty sense of humor. The cast ensemble for the film is made up of a group of people who are close friends of writer, and main lead, Kenny Stevenson. This translates to friendly exchanges and comedic banter on screen that hits a level of authenticity that makes for a charming, lighthearted film. With Kenny Stevenson and Dorean Davies being married in real life as well, an outstanding performance of Neil and Jane is at full display for a one of a kind romantic comedy. Love, Sex, & Missed Connections is a film worth the late-night watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member An engaging and surprisingly comforting rom-com, Love, Sex and Missed Connections centers around Neal (Kenny Stevenson) and Jane's (Dorien Davies) slightly dysfunctional and humorous internet relationship. Aided by Eric Kissack's brilliant direction, the clever script keeps you rooting for the two cat and mouse lovers despite their unfortunate romantic pasts. Stevenson and Davies' chemistry is palpable and becomes especially apparent after discovering the pair are real life husband and wife. Overall, Love, Sex and Missed Connections is a sweet and uplifting depiction of finding love after heartbreak and a couple one night stands that offers some truly poignant moments in addition to the film's humor.
