Savina Petkova A Good Movie To Watch Instead of exploring the possibilities of VR relations through an ironic lens, the film seems to not even care enough to look for the genuine comedic potential of the Metaverse as a concept-turned-space. Rated: 57/100 Nov 24, 2023 Full Review Daniel M. Kimmel North Shore Movies First, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Second, it spends some time building its characters so that we care about how their stories play out. The result is a silly movie that turns out to be a lot of fun. K. S At first I wasn't sure if I'd like this movie but I was laughing my a** off by the 20 minute mark. More than anything I was tickled by the married couple! This reminded me of an adult Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/17/24 Full Review Jenna J I thought it was interesting how the characters could go into the virtual world. I like how the touched-on topics that are current to today. I liked how the characters could change their avatars in the VR world, and I like how most of the characters changed over the course of the movie, The scene I liked the most was when the was the married couple that was having an affair with each other. Overall, the movie was entertaining. I would have liked to have seen less of the sexual innuendos and more of a serious take on some parts. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Lachelle B "Love Virtually" swept me away with its poignant portrayal of modern romance. I found myself utterly captivated by the characters' journey, deeply moved by the raw emotions and genuine connections portrayed on screen. It's a film that resonates long after the credits roll, reaffirming my belief in the transformative power of love. - Devin Burr Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Detravious S The satiric approach the movie adopts in mirroring the love aspect and virtual worlds sure did a great job. Thus, observe how presentations of the relationships and technology and the helpful outcome as well as danger leads to. I had not thought about such questions before and therefore was very glad that these were brought out by the movie. For instance: “Is cheating still cheating if you are in VR”; this helps one think about the other possible results of technology on cheating as a society and as a unit in real life. Namely, it was an awesome movie and the characters distinguished from one another and had some kind of traits which made them resembles or was similar to us. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Anny C "Love Virtually" is a romantic comedy that addresses contemporary themes such as online romance and the challenges of relationships in the digital age. Directed by Peter Sullivan, the film follows the lives of Jake (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Emma (Emma Stone), who meet on a dating app and begin to develop a deep connection despite never meeting in person. The plot centers on the virtual relationship between Jake and Emma, starting with casual message exchanges that quickly evolve into more intimate and emotional conversations. The film explores the nuances of a relationship based on digital communication, touching on themes like authenticity, trust, and the human desire for connection. The main characters are well-developed and engaging. Aaron Taylor-Johnson delivers a convincing performance as Jake, displaying vulnerability and charisma. Emma Stone also impresses with her portrayal of Emma, bringing a mix of humor and depth to her role. Both actors manage to create palpable chemistry, even within the constraints of a virtual romance. Peter Sullivan's direction effectively captures the intimacy and tension of an online romance. The use of device screens and text messages is skillfully integrated into the visual narrative, creating an immersive experience for the viewer. The screenplay, written by Barbara Kymlicka, is witty and filled with authentic dialogues that reflect the reality of online dating. The production design, though simple, is effective in conveying the sense of closeness and distance that defines a digital relationship. The cinematography enhances this feeling, highlighting the emotional connections between the characters, while the soundtrack complements the film’s tone, adding an emotional layer to their interactions. "Love Virtually" also does a good job of exploring the dichotomy between virtual and real life, questioning the authenticity of online relationships and whether it is truly possible to know someone through a screen. The film raises pertinent questions about the nature of relationships in the digital age, offering the audience a reflection on the new ways of loving and connecting. Overall, "Love Virtually" is a charming and relevant romantic comedy that effectively captures the challenges and joys of finding love in the digital age. With strong performances, creative direction, and an engaging script, the film stands out as a valuable addition to the modern romantic genre. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Andrea O I really appreciated the film's satirical take on modern love and virtual reality. It was interesting to see the intersection of relationships and technology and the advantages and pitfalls that can have. I also appreciated the ethical questions asked by the film, such as "Is it cheating if it's in VR?”, which allows viewers to think about the different implications that technology has on cheating in our society and real-life relationships. Overall, this was a very entertaining watch and all of the characters were unique and had relatable characteristics. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
