      Critics Consensus

A rich blend of thrilling horror and sharp social commentary, Lucky acts as a bloody good calling card for director Natasha Kermani and writer-star Brea Grant.

Julien Y Flat film, without rebound, boring at times. This film is too politically marked Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Cristian s Buena idea, pésima ejecución. A la media hora ya sabia como terminaba y eso nunca es bueno. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member We've seen the ‘groundhog day' idea make its way into horror movies a number of times in recent years. It's a fresh enough spin on the idea and I liked that it played up the psychological aspect of it more than the comedic. Hated the ending and got no real conclusion or explanation for why it was happening or what was 'lucky' about it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member An insultingly bad film. A repetative obvious social comment and nothing else. A story so bland, shallow and unimaginative as to be painful to watch. An interesting premise and a worthwhile message but delivered so poorly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I was in on this movie, but I was trying really hard to understand the meaning behind it all. Obviously it's female trauma, but perhaps the filmmakers could have done a better job conveying the message. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The writer of this film started to write and it looks she didnt know hi to finish it. After the first 30% it just groundhog day. Mar 15, 2021 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times As the filmmakers dial in tighter on those keen observations, their movie gets more and more chilling. Mar 6, 2021 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Lucky makes absolutely the right choice by having Grant taking the lead in her own script. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 6, 2021 Full Review Paul Lê Nightmare on Film Street Smart, perceptive, and honest. Rated: 8/10 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Zofia Wijaszka FirstShowing.net Natasha Kermani's Lucky is a reflection-provoking thriller that surprises right from the beginning. Once we think we know what's going on, Kermani changes course. The whole cast is thoroughly riveting, especially Brea Grant.
