Audience Member When gifted screenwriter Chan Hing Kai hooks up with his director pal Patrick Leung they usually bring out the romcom weaponry, and Good Times Bed Times ain't no exception. Since this is supposedly a sex comedy, you'd perhaps expect something less chaste, but I guess that's the old Hong Kong prudishness for you. Regrettably, only one of the two narrative lines Chan presents here, featuring a gorgeous looking and less whinier sounding Sammi Cheng and a relievingly self-ridiculing Louis Koo, works out. The other one, in which Lau Ching Wan and a way too Lolita-ish Charlene Choi strikes up an unlikely and, dare I say, improper relationship, is just simply disturbing. Obviously, the main point here should be the huge age difference between these two lovebirds, but Chan just lets that golden opportunity pass him by, leaving us with only half of a great time. Over the top with the humor and a little lacking in the romance department. Things just happen and you don't really see the transition from strangers to lovers but Ive already come to lower my expectations when it comes to HK movies :( Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Anything with Louis Koo is worth watching Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny and some sweet~ a bit wired in the part between Choi and Lau. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Where have romantic comedies from Hong Kong been hiding my whole life? While the movie was quite conventional in its plot lines, the characters, setting, and treatment of these conventional plot lines was anything but. The camera was engaging, without interfering the storyline. The set decorator was inspired. The acting was amazing. I acknowledge that from even my limited experience with Hong Kong romantic comedies that this was a formulaic movies. To that I say, for now that's not a problem, because the formula works extremely well. I was delighted the whole movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
