dave d This is more a fluff piece than anything else on Cenk Uygur and The Young Turks. If you're a fan of the show there's nothing revolutionary here, however if you're on the fence as to where you should get your news, TYT is as good as anywhere. Final Score: 6.6/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Rare peek behind the smoke and mirrors of the news media industry and how the modern digital revolution may have opened the floodgates of competition with the establishment. Since the release of this documentary, TYT has jumped up another notch in relevance through the recent presidential election season riding the surge of grassroots support triggered by Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic Primary. A follow up to the TYT story is definitely needed to see what this motley crew of journalists have been up to after expanding their reach beyond the studio by adding several field reporters to the team. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The Donald Trump of internet news. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member insted of reading all the comments good or bad, why dont you just watch it for yourself and form your own opinion :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Smart, funny, and at times a little angry, this documentary takes you through the atypical evolution of one of the internets most successful news programs. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a documentary. Just ego stroking and very bland at that. I'm sure the SJW's of the world will love it. Godfrey Cheshire RogerEbert.com Being innocent of much television and online content, this reviewer had never heard of Uygur or TYT but found the film's account of them engaging enough to leave him intrigued and impressed with both. Rated: 3/4 Feb 6, 2015 Full Review Nicolas Rapold New York Times It's a job requirement for a show host like Mr. Uygur to project his personality and beliefs; this filmmaker doesn't muster a healthy skepticism to match. Feb 5, 2015 Full Review Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times Unexpectedly, the film best serves as a cautionary anecdote that epitomizes the mutual apprehension between Internet-age start-ups and establishment media. Feb 5, 2015 Full Review Bernard Boo Way Too Indie A slick-looking doc, but its storytelling is decidedly conventional: the talking head interviews serve their purpose, and the backstage footage is interesting, but none of it feels as spontaneous, alive and dangerous as Uygur. Rated: 6.5/10 Mar 19, 2019 Full Review Chris Barsanti Film Journal International There's little to see here that explains [...] why people not already fans of Uygur's would want to watch an entire film about him. Feb 5, 2015 Full Review Roger Moore Tribune News Service Interesting recounting of the Cenk Uygur story that's sorely in need of voices from outside his inner circle, people who might think he's just a professional contrarian and opportunist.
