Being innocent of much television and online content, this reviewer had never heard of Uygur or TYT but found the film's account of them engaging enough to leave him intrigued and impressed with both. Go to Full Review

It's a job requirement for a show host like Mr. Uygur to project his personality and beliefs; this filmmaker doesn't muster a healthy skepticism to match. Go to Full Review

Unexpectedly, the film best serves as a cautionary anecdote that epitomizes the mutual apprehension between Internet-age start-ups and establishment media. Go to Full Review

It's about 20 minutes too long; a bland film about a charismatic contrarian. Go to Full Review

6.5/10
A slick-looking doc, but its storytelling is decidedly conventional: the talking head interviews serve their purpose, and the backstage footage is interesting, but none of it feels as spontaneous, alive and dangerous as Uygur. Go to Full Review

dave d 07/18/2020 This is more a fluff piece than anything else on Cenk Uygur and The Young Turks. If you're a fan of the show there's nothing revolutionary here, however if you're on the fence as to where you should get your news, TYT is as good as anywhere. Final Score: 6.6/10 See more 03/16/2017 Rare peek behind the smoke and mirrors of the news media industry and how the modern digital revolution may have opened the floodgates of competition with the establishment. Since the release of this documentary, TYT has jumped up another notch in relevance through the recent presidential election season riding the surge of grassroots support triggered by Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic Primary. A follow up to the TYT story is definitely needed to see what this motley crew of journalists have been up to after expanding their reach beyond the studio by adding several field reporters to the team.
