Tiger A The attraction between two very different people is portrayed with such sensitive, subtle depth that it is almost impossible to resist its magic. The film is characterized by its calm but intense mood, which intensifies the tense contrast to the emotional surges between the two protagonists. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Audience Member It's basically Brief Encounter meets Un Coeur en Hiver, and the reason I learned French. A mesmerising star-crossed lovers story where everyone is grown up enough to do the right thing, however hard. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Realistic, minimalistic romance that is both subtle and multilayered at the same time... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Muy interesante historia sobre el amor y la pasión. Super recomendable. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member The marriage affair movie is usually too aggressive. This film actually builds the time slowly between the two, to make the romance seem more from the heart and less like a fool's pursuit. The stakes aren't any less low, and with that the story's handled exquisitely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A carpenter resists having an affair with his son's schoolteacher. Mademoiselle Chambon features strong performances by Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Lindon as the two lead characters. Their characters are built on silence and subtle looks that make them fun to watch. The film's plot is meandering, taking far too long to get from point A to point B with few complications in between. It's slow, but it's slow in a way that I've grown accustomed to in modern French cinema. What is more, I'm not sure what the film is saying. Is it merely privileging a content marriage with a passionate affair? If so, such an aphorism has been said often and with greater effect. Overall, Mademoiselle Chambon has strong performances, but the story is lacking in clarity and dimension. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
