Alec B Jackson and York are obviously great. I have a feeling it works better on stage but this is still a quite compelling movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Audience Member Jackson and York are obviously great. I have a feeling it works better on stage but this is still a quite compelling movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member just ok i was expecting more but u can really tell this is based on a play as most of the movie takes place in just one room. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I've never read the play by Jean Genet, but this adaptation sure feels like a play. There is some great dialogue here and two great lead performances, especially by Glenda Jackson. They really show the delusional characters well. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member When Susannah York and Glenda Jackson let rip as two maids, engaged by a wealthy woman in a luxurious Parisien appartment, boy do they let rip. Based on a play by Genet, the sisters act out their sadistic fantasies, each taking it in turn to be the "Madam" whilst the other plays her "maid". Produced by The American Film Theatre it reproduced the stage version that starred both York and Jackson, except in the film they didnt have to walk on a floor of stretched bouncy canvas. If you are fine of Jackson or York you will love it. If you are a fan of Jean Genet its a must. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Genet's play about otherness from the marksist point of view Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
