Ken Hanke Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) It's not the kind of film that's ever going to make anyone's Ten Best list, but it's so enjoyable that it ought to be better known. acsdoug D Although the dialogue feels a bit dated here and there, you would think you can't go wrong with a Michael Curtiz/William Powell detective neo noir. You would be right. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Michael Curtiz directed this early talkie with William Powell as a private eye in Paris who falls for the beautiful woman, Margaret Lindsay, he's investigating. It takes some time to get going, but it's a pretty good yarn once it's kicks into gear, even if Powell and Lindsay don't have that great of on-screen chemistry. Not a classic, but worth watching for Powell fans. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't know if this was pre-Thin Man. But William Powell gives a good performance as a down and out Private Eye. An enjoyable little movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member info should include this is a starring vehicle 4 jane wyman. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
