Jesse Singal Boston Globe "Man vs Snake" isn't perfect and some moments don't register, but mostly it's quite well done. Aug 9, 2016 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh The silliness and absurdity will keep you invested throughout its run time and it's hard not to get invested in the outcome of the low-stakes challenge. Rated: 4/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Adam Patterson Film Pulse As entertaining as it may be, Man vs. Snake still feels like it's following in the shadow of The King of Kong. Rated: 5/10 May 2, 2019 Full Review Chris Tilly IGN Movies An emotional rollercoaster that will make you happy and sad and pleased that a guy like Tim McVey is out there, nibbling dots and avoiding his tail, all the while striving for his dream. Rated: 8/10 Mar 4, 2016 Full Review Mike Gallucci Willamette Week The story is nothing new, with many of its beats lifted straight from King of Kong, but the characters and their struggles are always entertaining. Rated: B+ Feb 25, 2016 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Man Vs Snake has all the ingredients of a fantastic story, and Kinzy and Seklir pace it perfectly. Audience Member Cute doc that naturally pales in comparison to King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, but has its own heart. And lots of it. Tim McVey (no, not that one) is a champ! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A surprisingly fascinating documentary and the best film about video games since The King of Kong a decade ago. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Compelling doc focusing on a former world record holder regaining the number one spot - on the little known arcade game Nibbler. In marathon stretches of gameplay (lasting more than 40 hours) his - and other players' efforts are chronicled and philosophized upon. Similar to "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" doc. Compelling and nostalgic. ***/5* Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member King of Kong is the template that this movie was based on. Largely appeals to nostalgic GenXers so younger crowd won't like it. It's a bit more hollow. It almost feels like the pro-Billy Mitchell crowd wanted their own movie to make BM look more like a nice guy. It was overall very similar but fell short in a lot of ways. It was worth a watch though. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A great love letter to oldschool marathon gaming just a great story! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Go on Timothy McVey not that one! You can do it Timothy McVey not that one not in that way!
