Kathi Maio The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction Although by no means a hopeless story, the most moving aspect of Il Mare is its unflinching exploration of modern loneliness. Audience Member A potentially interesting, if silly, premise, devolves into saccharine nonsense, not helped by the sentimental score, clumsy voice-over narration, and overly formulated sequences of events. The subtitles on Amazon Prime also seem to have just used Google Translate, but perhaps the script wasn’t lofty prose to begin with. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/21 Full Review Audience Member Siworae (international title: Il Mare) is a romance about a young couple that is connected through a mysterious letter box although they both live in different times. The premise is great, and the time travel aspect does serve the plot nicely. What really sets the movie apart is the outstanding chemistry between the lead performers and the beautiful cinematography. However, due to the at times slow pacing and some cheesy elements, the movie also feels a little longer than it really should – still, it never overstays its welcome. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The original of The lakehouse Both are OK. This is less 'merican, more human.
