What to Know

Critics Consensus

Margaret Cho: Assassin finds the comedian playing to her base with a set full of would-be provocations that amount to disappointingly little in the way of laughs.

Anger is the gasoline of stand-up comedians, the fuel that gets them revved. But just as too much gas will flood a carburetor, an overdose of anger can stall a comic's inspiration. Go to Full Review

We're told she's 'controversial,' but honestly, all she does is lob obvious cheap shots that do nothing but sanction her audience's status quo. Where's the controversy in that? Go to Full Review

You know, the surest way to stop being considered 'edgy' is to brag constantly about how edgy you are. Get over yourself and get back to writing good jokes. Go to Full Review

Roberto L 11/21/2023 Typically I love Margaret Cho. I go see her when she's in town, I buy all of her DVDs, I have the posters. But this one was a big let down. It is seriously like watching some lame form of the news being broadcast. I laughed ONLY once and it was on her parody of Bjork because it was dead on. Please, please Margaret, go back to your REAL comedy and leave the boring news broadcasts to the folks in the suits at 10PM. There is little talk of her mother, little of her ordinary jokes and references and few attempts at anything funny at all. I highly recommend her first two DVDs, but beg of you to skip this one for your own sanity. See more 03/26/2014 my least favorite of her 5 films still funny funny though See more 07/09/2011 As usual, laugh out loud funny. Miss Cho at her best. See more 03/07/2011 I think she's great, but this one wasn't the funniest. Still good, but not "ROTFL" (as the kids say). Die-hards will adore it, of course, but for the casual fan, it didn't blow me away.
