This definitive documentary on Martha Stewart pulls back the curtain on one of America's greatest self-made icons, from her start as a teenage model to her stint as a Wall Street stockbroker to her reign as the grand dame of entertaining and good taste. Directed by R.J. Cutler (Elton John: Never Too Late, Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry, The September Issue), Martha draws on hundreds of hours of intimate interviews with Stewart and those from her inner circle, along with Stewart's private archives of diaries, letters, and never-seen-before footage. The film illuminates Stewart's upbringing in a working-class family, compels us to reconsider the scandal that sent her to prison, and heralds her post-prison reinvention as the original influencer who's still captivating new generations of fans.

Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) “I never look the other way,” she says, and thankfully neither does Cutler’s documentary. Rated: 4/5 Nov 15, 2024 Full Review Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) To its credit, it doesn't pull any punches on the tough side of her. Nov 13, 2024 Full Review Alissa Wilkinson New York Times “Martha” feels like a far more comprehensible key to Stewart — who has been the subject of speculation, fascination, jokes that turn cruel and plenty of schadenfreude — than half a century of media attention has managed to find. Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Loren King Newport This Week (RI) Cutler wisely anchors the film with his interview with Stewart and lets her relate her story in her own words. The disarming candor and occasional prickliness is revealing. Jan 3, 2025 Full Review Stephen Silver The SS Ben Hecht What I liked about this is that it’s not pure hagiography, and was willing to get into uncomfortable subjects, like Stewart’s affairs and breakups. Dec 6, 2024 Full Review Rosalynn Try-Hane Liquid Marmalade This documentary did that rare thing, it got under the skin of the icon and showed the woman. Nov 24, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Mike H Wow, what a career. She is the original influencer. Can't say she ever influenced me, but I was not her target. The Justice Department scam to take her down was very disappointing display of (in)justice.....she is a billionaire and she sold $45K worth of stock on a broker advice....and goes to jail? And what a rebound from that. Snoop-Dog blowing blunts in her face and she cruises on. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Ivy L It was brilliant. It showed the uncomfortable truths and you can see Martha’s raw emotions in the not so glamorous truths of affairs, insider trading, and heartbreaks and her being cancelled for years, and her comebacks eventually. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Michael W This showbiz documentary was great. The entire crew did a great job on telling the story of the famous TV host and entrepreneur, Martha Stewart. It really goes into detail about her childhood to her career. It was very dramatic and sad. If you haven't seen this documentary yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/24 Full Review Stephen J What a great documentary. What I am left with the most is how horrible James Comey is as a person. And how horrible the FBI conducted itself. I am so glad that buffoon was fired! As for Martha stewart, what an incredible human being. I am so sorry about how things turned out for her. A complete miscarriage of justice. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Julian P Good docco even if you live outside the USA. She was clearly stitched up by the male bastion and the way it is told reveals both sides of her personality. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Audience Member It was an interesting documentary. I would’ve liked a bit more interviews from others involved. I would’ve liked it to expand more especially if they are demanding the viewer to sit through 2 hours worth of material. In the end, it was very good character study, albeit a one sided one.
