Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Masquerade pulls off this final act of subterfuge just well enough that I do believe some will come away suitably shocked and impressed - and maybe that's enough for this one to warrant a mild recommendation. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 5, 2021 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Its dumb plot ends with an even dumber twist. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 30, 2021 Full Review Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting Masquerade sticks too closely to the home invasion formula for too long, unable to muster any suspense along the way until a confusing third act. Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 29, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com There’s a lot to admire about Masquerade, which certainly makes excellent use of the French Riviera, but its pacing, tone, and screenplay are lacking Rated: 2.5/5 May 31, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Masquerade is a trashy film with a gimmicky twist ending that tries to put a different spin on 'home invasion' horror movie stereotypes. However, the movie's conclusion misses the mark because it's a half-baked and sloppily executed idea. larrykohut L Masquerade is a thriller movie that stars Bella Thorne and it has two other criminals in the film. Bella Thorne is playing one of the criminals but we don't see her alot in this movie. She's off screen waiting in a car. The premise of the movie are about these 3 criminals that break into a family's home , they kill the husband of the mom and hold the mom hostage and search for the kids . They are there to steal some of their valuables . However the pacing of this movie is not very good. In fact they waist a lot of time talking to the kids and trying to get them to tell them where the valuables are , pictures , money and things like that. U do see one or two of the criminals faces but not until the end . Their plans end up being fooled at the end by the police. Ultimately masquerade was not a great movie. The movie is dark but it wasn't very scary or thrilling . It was somewhat boring. The movie was released without a rating but it ought to be PG 13 or an r for violence and because of some language Parents guide/ Christian perspective Violence : moderate violence in the film. Husband in killed by a gunshot in the movie . Criminals kill someone to obtain a car . Children are threatened to be killed if they don't cooperate with the cxrimals . Mild blood shown Language : two gds , one Jesus profanity , 1 or 2 f words , 1 b word and two or three s words . Sex : none Nudity none Drugs : none Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review M V Poorley made, storey line poor, acting ok, plot ok but to many mistakes/mishaps "we have to go, parents are coming, we have to get the girl, she has seen us (wearing mask, voice transformer etc.) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/24 Full Review ROBERT L Pointless story with excruciatingly slow action. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Emma R It feels like it needed a first movie to explain this movie? I can't comment on most th acting as it's filmed so darkly. I watched it thinking it would get better. It did not Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/02/23 Full Review Jeffrey P I can't take art thieves serious enough for this to pass as horror. Aside from that, it steadily improves as it progresses... as a mostly straightforward suspense thriller. The ending could have been more clear and concise in it's definition of everything else.
