Kevin Carr Fat Guys at the Movies Someone once said to me: “Stephen King didn’t direct this movie. Cocaine directed this movie.” And it certainly shows. Melissa M I know this was Stephen King's directorial debut. And the movie was panned by critics. And there were few fans that actually liked the movie. I think it's awesome that Stephen King has a cameo in the film. I think it's cool then King makes Cameo appearances in his films. It's one of the best part of the movie. The soundtrack was killer. The only thing that would have made the movie more awesome is if AC/DC appeared in the film. Yardley Smith was in the film. With her in it the movie is was more of a horror comedy. I thought Emilio Estevez was pretty cool in the movie. He made the movie worth watching. The special effects were pretty cool for the time. I think it's unfair that they throw this movie under the bus. Then repeatedly run it over a couple of times. It really wasn't that bad of a film. And at least it had an imaginative storyline. I would actually pay $20 to see this movie. I can't say that about many movies today. Hollywood now it's mostly remakes. Or remakes of remakes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/25 Full Review Lewis C I loved this movie and yes I might be crazy but if you look past the flaws it's a decently good movie. Plus the reason might be because my dad let me drive with him in the semi when I was 2 and love semi trucks. But I think my reason for why I like his movie is because it's something different. For example the only killer car before this or any other movie was DUEL. I think the premise of a truck that's a murder weapon works and lets face it there's not many killer car movies out their. So for me Maximum Overdrive is okay in my book. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/25 Full Review Audience Member First R rated movie I watched. Would definitely watch it again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/30/24 Full Review Darrell S Total garbage. Only interesting thing is that Stephen King got to use Green Goblin's face on a truck. Complete waste of time and film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review Teddy B Stephen King's direction isn't as interesting as the prospect sounds, due to his substance abuse, but this schlock-fest brings out some of the best of his pulp-horror talents besides his serious psychological dramas. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Audience Member The only movie to have a accurate Green Goblin to appear on the big screen from the Spiderman comics. A UFO comment passed by Earth and al the electronics come alive and vehicles plus ACDC doing all the music ? Count me in . This was Stephen King director debut and according to people he was always drunk and coke out during production . Having golf cart races during down time and rented out a theater for the whole cast and crew and watched the original Godzilla and Night of the Living Dead. This is a guilty pleasure movie. The dialogue isn't great but is hilarious, interesting story and the movie is just fun as fuck. It's great 9/10 I always loved this movie from the 80s .
