The path to going plant-based has obvious upsides, but can also be isolating and difficult. Shouldn’t there be some middle ground for people looking to make a change without totally upending their lives? Leader of the Reducetarian Movement, Brian Kateman explores this issue through the lens of his own personal decision to reduce eating meat. Grappling with how to sort through conflicting advice, Brian seeks a practical path forward.

Dorothy Woodend The Tyee (British Columbia) The film tries to do too many things, biting off more than it can really chew, but it's an easy watch and hearing Kateman's dad wax rhapsodic about learning to love broccoli is easily the most hopeful thing in the entire story. Nov 9, 2021 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Meat Me Halfway is not a preachy documentary that pushes a one-sided animal-rights agenda. It's a well-rounded film with diverse viewpoints and options to help people decide if they want to be meat eaters or non-meat eaters. Aug 23, 2021 Full Review Alan Ng Film Threat I can say I was engaged with the film and found myself not only questioning his facts and opinions but questioning my own as well, which is a good thing. Rated: 6.5/10 Jul 28, 2021 Full Review Shikhar Verma High on Films While this feels like propaganda waiting to mislead a generation of people, the documentary provides a well-balanced look at how meat consumption, its reduction, and trudging towards a vegetable-based diet is the need of the hour. Rated: 3/5 Jul 21, 2021 Full Review Tom Santilli Movie Show Plus Although Meat Me Halfway may be low-budget and without massive distribution, it arrives both purposefully and with a genuine interest - a thirst - for answers to the questions it's raising. Audience Member This movie does a very good job of starting an important conversation. As someone who is vegan, the parental dinner scene is all too familiar. Unlike the other vegans in this movie, although I understand where they're coming from, I do believe reducing is by far the superior solution in our current world state. Everyday people aren't going to "go vegan", I know I didn't want to. However everyone can reduce. Everyone should reduce, and not just when it comes to food. That is another ballgame altogether though. Watch this movie, and even if you don't enjoy it, start a dialogue within yourself. Could you reduce, or rather, could you substitute? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I've been Eating plant based for 7 years. This movie reminded me of a culture that i do not want to be associated with. I think I'll have a burger now. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
