      Critics Consensus

Its charming stars notwithstanding, the middling Meet Cute offers little to set itself apart in the ever-more-crowded "time loop romcom" subgenre.

Dylan B Honestly this movie was hilarious and teaches an honest lesson that "Love/mental health is Messy, and that's okay" there were also touches of generational trauma included. I understand there were some weird plot holes but they didn't need to be explained the movie was much more fun to just have random unexplainable aspects. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Chelsea A Not the stereotypical rom-com that I was expecting, but it was so much more. It squeezed what it means to be in a long term relationship into a movie and did it in a creative way we haven't seen before. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to see raw emotions and struggles represented in a movie. If you're looking for a Hallmark love story, this ain't it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Jack S Surprisingly well-crafted and clever sci-fi rom com, with a darker quirkier indie aesthetic than I was expecting. Kaley Cuoco's acting is deeper than I've ever seen it. A nice allegory of a struggling relationship. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/24 Full Review ryan w It's mind bobbling how this film isn't 5/5 stars. I think the issue lies with peoples expectations of Pete Davidson. He's a gem in this film, but this is not a laugh out loud comedy - Andy Samberg's Palm Springs comes to mind. This is darker with touching on the subject of suicide and loneliness - two issues become more endemic in our world. Both Pete and Kaley are on point and Kaley's range is broad beyond Bing Bang. They have a natural connection and their portrayal of complex relationship matters isn't stressed or overly done. This film is heavily character driven and all actors shine. The timing is perfect and the film pivots at the right moments driving the story further, but not overcomplicating the story. The film is shot with long takes, some quick cuts, and close ups at night. The director allows the shadows to bleed through and the atmosphere is raw and dark allowing reflecting the complexities of the characters. I don't often write a review for a film, but after seeing the rating this film received I am shocked. All involved it's production have to know this was a great film and I would add this to status of Indie cult classic up there on equal footing as Empire Records and The Two Night Stand. I think this film suffered from the connotation people likely had when hearing Pete Davidson and the title which although slang, is absolutely terrible. Give this film a chance, it's worth every minute!
