Our story begins like all good New York rom-coms: with a montage and a voiceover from Jason, who grew up watching romantic comedies with his family and longs to see an Asian lead who looks like him. His meet cute with Nora, an aspiring architect, leads to their casting in a viral dating app commercial, where their on-screen chemistry captivates viewers citywide and sparks genuine feelings between them. Inspired by this unexpected romance, Jason writes a script based on their burgeoning relationship. The film unfolds through the lens of Jason pitching the script, creating a rom-com within a rom-com as the executives listening to his pitch find themselves falling in love as well.

Eric S A meta rom-com for the dating app age! This is a feel-good, fun watch that I enjoyed even more on my second time around! I really appreciated the meta aspect (which I won't say more on to avoid spoilers), and I wish that Meet Cute was a real app - it really should be! The story and writing are great, and it's accompanied by a great soundtrack that fits the scenes really well too. More people need to watch this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/25/25 Full Review Denny K This was fantastic! Lavish production design, strong performances, and gripping dialogue. Loved its nostalgic references to old rom-coms and the film kept my attention through the entirety of the runtime. There was one sequence that was especially creative: where different characters were finishing each other's lines in a way that felt so fresh and dynamic from a craft perspective. That was my favorite scene in the film!! Also, so incredible how they were able to capture scenes in an empty Grand Central!! The film felt like a total love letter to New York, and I now can't wait for whatever Karen Morey directs next. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Edward M MEET CUTE IN MANHATTAN is a fun, heartfelt film that gripped me. Terence and Chen's performances were excellent, and I thought the set design was pretty fantastic. This film just POPS! I found myself invested in Jason and Nora's relationship--they had great chemistry. I'm excited to see what Karen Morey does next! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Dave M I like how modern this romantic comedy was -- capturing the quirks and joys of love in the digital era. The film has genuine warmth and humor as it explores a budding romance between two actors who inadvertently find themselves living out a real-life love story following their viral dating-app commercial. The chemistry of the lead actors feels natural, relatable, and their interactions are filled with great banter. Set against the bustling picturesque backdrop of New York City, the film expertly utilizes the city’s vibrancy. The movie is a great reminder that romance can blossom in unexpected ways -- I was left smiling and uplifted after I watched! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie is a joke. I watched it because of the so-called 100% rating, and I genuinely feel duped. It’s a cringe-fest of clichés with zero originality. The lead actor has no screen presence, no charm, and frankly, no business being a lead. I’ve seen more convincing performances in toothpaste commercials. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that flawless rating came from a bunch of fake accounts—probably set up by the actor himself out of desperation. Save your time. This film is nothing but hype and hot air. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/07/25 Full Review Catherine R Went to see in theaters on a date night - SUCH a cute movie! A true rom-com with sharp, self-aware dialogue, a charming plot, and a great score. The perfect cozy watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Read all reviews
