Leslie Felperin Guardian You will have seen better ghoulish makeup on the average street corner last Halloween, but that’s OK: it is clearly not meant to actually scare anyone. It’s fun, it’s well acted, well shot... Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT Members Club does enough good that these missteps do not take away from the overall enjoyment. Filled with toilet humor, disgusting sight gags, and gross out moments it is all the best parts of the spooky season. Oct 23, 2024 Full Review Ygraine Hackett-Cantabrana What a Scream Podcast Despite being more comedy than horror and maybe not appealing to a wide audience in its humorous sensibilities, Members Club is a surprisingly amusing ride, perfect for those suffering from slowburn trauma horror fatigue. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall While it's consistently witty and gleefully nasty, the story feels somewhat simplistic, which leaves the pacing rather slack. Christopher H "Members Club" Is a glorious train wreck of comedic horror, a film that understands the art of being intentionally, gloriously terrible. It's a delicate as a middle-aged man's ego,, and surprisingly, it mostly sticks the landing, embracing the low-budget, often-campy aesthetic of the classic B-movie. Balancing comedy and horror is notoriously difficult, but "Members Club" opts for a refreshingly straight-faced approach to its absurd premise. While the humor is undeniably juvenile and dumb, it's delivered with such earnestness that it becomes genuinely funny. If you, like me, have a soft spot for cinematic absurdity, you'll find plenty to enjoy here, especially if you're a fan of those intentionally low-rent genre flicks. From start to finish, the film revels in its own ridiculousness. It's not a "good" movie by any conventional metric, but it's a "bad" movie that knows it's bad, and uses that self-awareness to its advantage. The result is a surprisingly entertaining experience, reminiscent of the best (or worst, depending on your perspective) B-movie classics.
