In May 2020, just weeks after the Trump administration placed a $15 million bounty on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, approximately 60 Venezuelan dissidents, including two former U.S. Green Berets attempted to reach Venezuela by boat in an effort to remove Maduro from power. Leading the mission was former Green Beret and private military contractor Jordan Goudreau, who branded himself as a real-life action hero and found himself at the center of an international political crisis. Filming began within days of the failed coup, with unprecedented access to all sides of the story -- from exclusive prison recordings of retired Venezuelan General Cliver Alcalá Cordones to interviews with J.J. Rendón, strategist to Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó. As the cameras rolled, the fallout spread across courtrooms and borders, with federal indictments, civil lawsuits, Interpol notices, and FBI surveillance.

Nicolas Rapold New York Times This hopeless history does have the flair to deploy Depeche Mode’s “Never Let Me Down Again,” capturing the tragic absurdity to Goudreau’s ambition. Sep 11, 2025 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com The movie is superb, rich in ways that may or may not be intentional. The inherent instability of the approach fuses with the manipulative charm and psychic damage of the subject. Rated: 3/4 Sep 10, 2025 Full Review Christian Blauvelt IndieWire It’s such a complicated film, it’s easy for a viewer to get lost. But hey, so did its subjects. Rated: B Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex While Men of War features an intriguing story, it does so with a little too joyous of a tone despite the incredible pain on screen. Rated: 5/10 Sep 23, 2025 Full Review Carmen Paddock MovieJawn A blistering indictment of playing the action hero and a nail-biting true thriller, Men Of War is a remarkable, unmissable documentary. Sep 11, 2025 Full Review Mark Dujsik Mark Reviews Movies Men of War ... leaves far too much unanswered ... and it's mostly because the filmmakers don't think or bother to ask. Kay When is Jordan’s next movie, I can’t take my eyes off of him. 😍 He is far more compelling than any actor today probably because he’s not acting. He’s a real life soldier/spy. What an amazing story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review Kristina T I watched this movie in one sitting, and it completely drew me in from the very beginning. The story was engaging and the pacing kept me hooked the whole way through. It’s rare to find a film that makes you forget about everything else, but this one did exactly that. Highly recommend!
