Lafe F A boy's daddy goes off to fight the Civil War, so he must fend for his mother and little sister (Jody Foster in an early role!) against the Menaces on the Mountain. A great setup for a boy's adventure. There are menaces indeed, including a wild mountain cat, the sleazy local men, and a smelly escaped soldier from the enemy army. The 14-year-old boy Jamie is played wonderfully by Mitch Vogel. It's like a kid's version of Gone with the Wind, and shows some of the mountain life during the Civil War. Disney needs to put this on DVD right away. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/07 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
