A single-engine passenger plane flying a crisscrossing route to New Zealand loses its navigational bearings over the Pacific Ocean. The plane's pilot, Jay Parkins (Scott Bakula), manages to make radio contact with a nearby commercial airplane captained by Gordon Vette (Robert Loggia), a one-time flight navigator. With inclement weather approaching and Parkins' fuel reserves quickly running out, it's up to Vette to locate the lost pilot and help him find his way.
