TheMovieSearch R Merry Little Mystery is a 2025 Hallmark-style holiday film that, unfortunately, misses the mark despite its promising premise. Centered around a granddaughter trying to uphold her grandfather’s tradition as the town’s secret Santa, the movie attempts to blend charm, mystery, and holiday spirit. On paper, it sounds delightful, but the execution falls flat, leaving viewers with a story that feels rushed and underdeveloped. The screenplay is the film’s biggest weakness. Scenes unfold in a step-by-step manner that leaves little room for suspense or emotional engagement. Key moments are revealed immediately without proper buildup, which robs the audience of any sense of anticipation or connection. The story moves forward mechanically, and the transitions between scenes lack fluidity, making the plot feel disjointed rather than enchanting. Jordin SPARKS delivers a solid performance in the lead role, bringing her natural charisma and warmth to the character. While she is capable and engaging, even her efforts can’t fully compensate for the film’s structural issues. Her portrayal shows promise, and it’s clear she tried to imbue her character with heart and relatability, but the screenplay limits her ability to shine fully. Supporting performances from Kellie, Carrie, and Fantasia are competent, but none of the characters are given enough depth or development to leave a lasting impression. The cast works hard to hold the story together, yet the material itself fails to provide the emotional resonance or excitement that viewers might expect from a festive holiday film. Directionally, the film struggles to create a cohesive tone. Moments that could have been suspenseful or heartfelt come across as flat or perfunctory. The pacing is uneven, and the film does not capitalize on visual storytelling or atmosphere in ways that might have enhanced the holiday mystery aspect. This leaves the overall viewing experience feeling lackluster and forgettable. Ultimately, Merry Little Mystery is a film with potential that never fully materializes. While Jordin SPARKS and the cast put forth commendable performances, the weak screenplay, poor pacing, and lack of engaging suspense keep it from being the charming holiday tale it aims to be. Fans of Hallmark-style films might still find some enjoyment in it, but it is far from a standout in the holiday genre. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
