In this musical, opera singer Ghita Galin (Alice Brady) leaves the Metropolitan Opera and starts her own company, enlisting unknown singers like the talented but inexperienced Tom Renwick (Lawrence Tibbett). Tom brings along a new friend, Anne (Virginia Bruce), and an old conductor (George Marion Sr.). However, despite their progress on a new production, Ghita is unpredictable and leaves the company when her voice falters. Now the others must find a large sum of money for the show to continue.

03/22/2014 the first movie for the newly combined 20th century fox See more 09/03/2010 Strictly for Opera fans. See more 08/31/2010 Lawrence Tibbett doesn't have much in the way of movie star presence alhough he sings beautifully but the real strength of this antique is in the supporting cast. Alice Brady is marvelous as an over the top diva and as with many old studio films wonderful character actors pop up and disappear after a scene or two. Here Jane Darwell and Walter Brennan are in one cute scene as a couple who run a road side cafe who have to send their kids to fetch anything that's ordered. See more Read all reviews
