What to Know

Critics Consensus

It might be a little too whimsical for its own good, but Micmacs delivers more of the inventive silliness that director Jean-Pierre Jeunet is known for.

Calvin Wilson St. Louis Post-Dispatch Jeunet remains one of the world's most imaginative directors. But Micmacs is a misfire. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 22, 2010 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News While the parts are quite good, the sum is pretty pedestrian. Rated: C+ Jul 16, 2010 Full Review Eric D. Audience Member Another astonishing movie made by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It doesn't have deep character development and there's a forced romantic arc that doesn't fit on the film in any manner. But Micmacs is a comedy. The only objective a comedy has is to be funny. And this movie is hilarious, even more than Amélie. Dany Boon's character's objective is enough to keep the spectator stuck in the movie. Is it implausible? Definitely, the story is absurd, but again, we're watching a comedy. And the last thing you should do is to take a comedy seriously. And Micmacs works not only as a comedy but also as a highly intelligent heist movie. It's impossible to not root for the protagonists because this cast is the purest charisma. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review robert p My Spouse hated this movie, but I loved it there is alot of small humor to this movie if you did not get this!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review mark r Jean-Pierre Jeunet doing his usual Jean-Pierre Jeunet thing. What's not to like? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Rosalind H Such a spectacularly creative film with wonderful characters and a completely engrossing and powerful story! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/21 Full Review Gianmarco R This film is generally boring throughout the first half and in the second half it resumes but it always seems like it can give more and doesn't give it at the end. But in general it's cute and fun Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/21 Full Review Audience Member Quirky, original and utterly adorable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
