Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse "Midnight Diner" has its faults, particularly regarding its duration and intense sentimentalism on occasion, but emerges as a very easy to watch, quite entertaining spectacle Rated: 6/10 Sep 12, 2021 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness Though the release itself is bare bones, there's delicious, nutrient-rich content in the film itself, making for a robust meal all on its own. Rated: 4/5 Aug 15, 2021 Full Review Richard Yu Cinema Escapist By missing out on character development and eschewing presentations of Shanghainese dishes, Midnight Diner fails to entertain both drama-philes and foodies. Sep 21, 2019 Full Review Andrew Parker The Gate A corny Chinese anthology tearjerker that starts off somewhat novel and enticing before growing wearisome and boring. Pedro V Probably one of the best Chinese movies I've ever seen. Great aesthetic, relatable and deep stories. Love the imagery of Shanghai, a lot of cool night shots of the city. Based on a Japanese movie series, I like how it actually feels touches on realities very specific to Chinese modern culture , sometimes in a subtle way others as part of the many side stories portrait in the movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/23 Full Review Enzo S It was embarrassing to watch this copy of the Japanese version. Geez, at least try to b original. Even got a guy that looks like the Japanese chef! There r so many local Shanghai characters and stories to be shown, instead, 10 minutes into this super cringe-worthy copy, I shut it off and removed it from my watchlist. Sad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review Laura Copy from a Japanese movie, but not as good as the original one Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/19 Full Review jjla Such a lovely movie! You can practically smell the gorgeously shot cooking scenes. The vignettes are all beautifully written and rendered. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/24/19 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
