Audience Member This movie is gripping from start to finish. Absolutely one of my favorites of all time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Francisco D The film is laden with clichés and features stereotypical characters. It lacks originality, presenting just another take on the trope of a 'crazy cult.' Florence Pugh's performance is commendable; I hope to see her in a more compelling story, interacting with stronger performances and well-developed characters. To enhance the viewing experience, there's a need to break away from the familiar molds of storytelling and character development, injecting fresh perspectives, nuanced characterizations, and unexpected plot twists that challenge the audience's expectations. The photography relies heavily on overexposure to evoke a sort of 'midnight summer' atmosphere. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Mete Y koray avcı - hoşgeldin (@kustiq) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review skylar k This is a very well thought out movie, although it is not for the faint of heart. I wouldn't recommend it for people who are sensitive to imagery of drug use / forced drugging / assault of any kind / vast gore / imagery of drug related hallucinations / struggles with mental health. Though for those who are tolerant of those, this is movie is a rollercoaster from start to finish. It draws you in and makes you question your own morals and values by the end and makes you question where you stand on sympathizing with the main character. Definitely a must watch for dedicated horror fans. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/23 Full Review S. C Admittedly, it succeeded in unsettling me and creating a sense of dread. The scene in which Dani breaks out crying and the other girls imitate her is one of my personal favourites and it did disturb me. Great visual storytelling. I really liked the cinematography and editing as well as the scenery and score. Good choreography in the dance sequence. The sets are fantastic as well as the costumes. I found the concept and lore of the cult to be interesting. Some great practical effects. The cast was pretty good from the start on, however afterwards it seemed under-acted to me for the most part. I was looking for some more captivating performances. Neither were their roles that authentic because the character writing was a bit shallow. They are somewhat boring. The way the movie is shot, designed and directed is amazing but the writing and acting disappointed me quite a bit. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/23 Full Review Ruby R So good. I watched it on YouTube and loved it… then, when it came out at the cinema, I was NOT disappointed. So twisted, clever, divine and horrible. This movie is not for the faint of heart, but is a must-watch for those who like disturbing cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Peter Bradshaw Guardian None of the flaws of this longer version come close to diminishing the effect of Pugh's sustained, mature and modulated work. Nor do they weaken the case for hers as the finest performance of the year so far... Rated: 4/5 Sep 10, 2019 Full Review Murjani Rawls Substream Magazine If there is anything that the director's cut clarifies, it's that the troubled state of Dani and Christian relationship is the real horror within the nightmarish backdrop of the Harga ceremony. Oct 25, 2020 Full Review Dan Schindel Hyperallergic Much of the film is keenly attuned to human failure and the ugliness of bad relationships, making for a magnetic but continually cringe-inducing ride. Feb 25, 2020 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Firstpost The 171-minute "director's cut" adds a chilling night-time ritual that fleshes out the commune's deeply-held beliefs and, more importantly, a night-time argument that helps clarify the troubled state of Dani and Christian's relationship.
