Audience Member MIGHTY JACK is one of the worst movies ever made. The awfulness of this movie is almost beyond comprehension- it is a punishing, torturous experience to sit through this. Producer Sandy Frank took a couple of episodes from the series and combined them into a movie, exporting it to the US. The storyline and style of the movie is very reminiscent of stuff like Ultraman, but also reminds me a bit of Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget. Not that those shows were based off of this one, but the crazy style and extravagant explosions and such remind me of them. Speaking of which, the special effects are probably the main reason to see this. They're pretty good for a TV series-turned-movie, but the rest is pretty much over the top and over my head. The crew at Mystery Science Theater 3000 do a nice riff on this one, and I'd say it's the best way to watch the movie. Watching it by itself isn't recommended, unless you intentionally want to turn your brain into mush. Well, maybe it's not that bad, but it's certainly not easy to follow or much fun. I'm still trying to figure out the plot about the ice that doesn't melt, and who is doing what. It doesn't make any sense in this edited version, and unfortunately, the original TV series is not available to watch...
