On account of his research, Solon Solomon, a law professor, embarks on a quest to understand 'migrating fears,' meaning what kind of fear and trauma refugees and asylum seekers experience and what are the fears/worries local societies have towards migration. Coming to share his thoughts with Helen, an Australian old friend of his in Oxford (played by Sarah Lockett), his efforts to better understand migration bring him to Dover and then to East London where the Huguenots first settled. There, in front of a Huguenot house and through his encounter with Zoe, another refugee law expert (played by Minouche Kaftel) as well as with an anonymous refugee (played by Kareena John), Solon solidifies his decision to continue unveiling the feelings around migration. Interviewing refugees, politicians, psychologists and legal experts, he enters into a process which ultimately results to the creation of dialogues instead of monologues among the different groups.

Oramae S Migrating Fears, directed by Dr. Solon Solomon, is a moving and intellectually rich film that speaks to both the heart and the mind. Blending documentary realism with subtle dramatization, it explores how societies experience and project their fears around migration. Through thoughtful interviews with refugees, scholars, and citizens, Solomon creates a balanced and deeply human portrait of displacement and belonging. The film’s simplicity, emotional pacing, and haunting score enhance its reflective power, while Solomon’s own narration adds warmth and sincerity. By addressing not only the trauma of those who flee but also the anxieties of host societies, Migrating Fears offers a rare, compassionate insight into one of today’s most pressing moral challenges. It’s a thought-provoking and beautifully executed work that lingers long after the credits roll. ~ By Oramae Studios Ltd Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
