Pauline Kael The New Yorker [Mike's Murder] is probably the most original and daring effort by the writer-director James Bridges, and it has two superb performances -- a full-scale starring one by Winger, and a brief intense one by Paul Winfield. Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Armond White Out Magazine Much more than just a mystery movie, these male-female conflicts make Mike's Murder an all-American sexual thriller. Jan 19, 2018 Full Review Anthony Del Valle Las Vegas Mercury A wonderful performance by Debra Wiinger helps flesh out this intriguing thriller about a missing man. Rated: 4/5 Jan 13, 2005 Full Review Frank Swietek One Guy's Opinion Rated: 2/5 Nov 11, 2004 Full Review James Sanford rec.arts.movies.reviews an unorthodox thriller that's less concerned with scaring viewers than it is with building a carefully controlled atmosphere of menace... a beautifully evoked, vaguely creepy atmosphere hangs over every scene... Steve D I don't get the character's motivations. Winger is great the film is not. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Compelling due to Debra Winger's committed performance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Bank teller Betty (Debra Winger) is in love with erratic Mike (Mark Keyloun). One day, she's told he's been killed - and that there's much more to him than she realized. Slow pacing and a somewhat stilted tone make this mystery increasingly difficult to watch. Director Bridges lays out the world of drugs so methodically, you'd think this film had been made ten years earlier. Ms. Winger is appealing, but it's a bit puzzling why she doesn't become truly entangled in the plot well before the final quarter. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
