Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Miracle Mile has the logic of one of those nightmares in which you're sure something is terrible, hopeless and dangerous, but you can't get anyone to listen to you. Besides, you have a sneaking suspicion that you might be mistaken. Rated: 3/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) A fascinating storm, but also deliriously funny. [Full review in Spanish] Jun 21, 2022 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Miracle Mile is primarily a romance-albeit an existential doomsday one. Oct 15, 2020 Full Review M.V. Moorhead Less Hat, Moorhead Edwards and Winningham are almost achingly lovable, and the supporting ensemble is tough to beat. May 19, 2020 Full Review Kathi Maio The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction ...it is filled with energy, quirky humor, and a colorful cast of characters. Mar 6, 2020 Full Review Andrew Todd Birth.Movies.Death. Miracle Mile grants us a poetic end in the face of absolute destruction. Someday, maybe, we'll re-emerge twinkling into the sun. Jeffrey P Came across this while browsing, I’ve enjoyed other films of the 80's dealing with nuclear doom so I figured I’d give it a shot. Much better than expected, with some Hollywood flare that other films of this genre and era did not have. I really liked how this was done, the worst part may have been that it could have been given more time, a lot actually, but holy hell, this was great. Could have been a trilogy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Alec B A rather stunning movie especially given the time it was made. Not only did De Jarnatt get to keep his weird and bleak ending but there are so many supporting characters treated with a kind of honestly and humanity you don't really get from much else from the 80s. Edwards and Winningham are perfectly cast. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Ronald H A marvel from start to finish. Edwards and Winningham are superb, as are all the supporting cast. The cinematography is dazzling. This is the best apocalypse movie I've ever seen, and it doesn't need a bunch of CGI effects to make its point. That doesn't mean that the visuals aren't impressive. The entire film is shot with an emphasis on primary colors, and there are several astounding scenes that will remain indelibly in your head. The fate of the two protagonists is Shakespearean tragic, but you'll still be glad you took the journey with them. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review Mark S Golly, I read the other reviews and consider they may be paid reviews. This movie is kind of like a surreal comedy, as though someone is having a dream. There is a scene near the start where our protagonist is caught in a fire. Up until this fire, seems like there is hope for the movie. Then after the fire, he wakes up hours late to a date. This is where the movie begins to be derailed. In the end he and the "date of his life" die together sinking in a helicopter after a nuclear war. Yeah the buildings are falling down, but somehow the helicopter is able to autorotate to a body of water. So if one considers the fellow is dead in the fire at the beginning and the rest is some goofy death transition, then maybe it is a comedy? The real tragedy here is that I spent two hours of my life hoping the movie was going to recover. It didn't. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Steve M Interesting to see this movie from the 80's, when a nuclear exchange was not unthinkable. Of course, North Korea and Putin's Russia make this seem like deja vu. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Shioka O Stylistically great, pure 80s flick. As if like a dark comic. I almost slept in the first 10 min, and needed to restart. but soon after that the story really began, tension retained towards the end though not really sure what's happening. Given the short runtime with tight budget, you could see enough mixture of apocalyptic disaster panic and romance. The score is effective made by Tangerine Dream. Could be look dated now but it's a cult. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/19/22 Full Review Read all reviews
