Snow White (Lily Collins), an orphaned princess, is the rightful ruler of her kingdom, but a jealous, evil queen (Julia Roberts) schemes to gain control. When a charming prince (Armie Hammer) spurns the queen in favor of Snow White, she has the princess thrown into the woods to be devoured by a fearsome beast. Rescued by a band of diminutive highway robbers, Snow White vows to take back her realm from the treacherous queen and, with the help of her small rescuers, roars into action.

Like most of Tarsem Singh's films, Mirror Mirror is undeniably beautiful -- but its treatment of the age-old Snow White fable lacks enough depth or originality to set it apart from the countless other adaptations of the tale.

Tarsem directs as confidently as ever, and while the movie isn't quite the magical ride it potentially could have been to say I left the theatre feeling fairly happily ever after wouldn't be too far off the mark.

I am not sure why both critics and audience reviews are only 50% for this movie. I found it thoroughly enjoyable. I thought the presentation of the 7 dwarves was not merely an original take but that it was the most respectful treatment of little people I have seen. They were portrayed as real human beings forced to become a band of thieves and declared to be " undesirables". Once Snow White and the dwarves joined forces, they rose to become heroes...instead of the usual comic relief they are assigned to be. Army Hammer was a charming enough prince. Nathan Lane never disappoints. Martin Klebba, Jordan Prentice, and Danny Woodburn were treasures.Julia Roberts was able to portray the evil queen in a subdued but effective performance. I must admit that the final Bollywood style dance at the end is guilty pleasure for me, as I have viewed this movie more than a couple of times over the years and tend to rewind and play the ending dance sequence at least twice each time.

Tarsem Singh did good in bringing this one to screen. Different take does wonders to the tale. Visually stunning. Whole cast very convincing in character. Great cinematography and beautifully written. Seems more "realistic" than any other iteration of the classic, highly recommended
