David Edelstein Slate So is the movie a tacky hoot? Yes, but until the godawful last half-hour it's a surprisingly fun tacky hoot. bob t The only bad mission impossible! this is just sad Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Chapman S This was the worst movie in the series. I will give it to Tom Cruise the first bit of the movie he's spring chicken fresh out of college. Soon though that all faded away. There were 0 stunts in the movie that I can think of, or any action that was good. The final fight between Ethan and Ambrose was straight up garbage, and the plot was just so dry. This is a movie I never want to watch again. If I could give 0 stars would. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/02/25 Full Review Fred P It's basically "Threat Level Midnight" but in slow motion. Someone watched the first MI movie, misunderstood the assignment, and wondered what Ethan Hunt's love life may look like. One of those screenwriters must've been dating or crushing hard and spread his love life cheese all over this thing. There was a scene where Ethan takes out a goon outside the armed facility, rolls him down a hill, and performs a front flip kick to the gut? Ethan really must've had it with that one thug in particular. How much was spent on the year away mask budget? There were 4 or 5 face peels? There was that wasted Red Herring, where Ethan's not actually talking to Nyah {new age hymn music}, rather Nyah's boyfriend, Ambrose, convincing Nyah to leave Ambrose alone. Oh, and also, to listen to everything Ambrose says. What kind of field active spy wears Versace jackets and Gucci shoes? Luther must get his luxury threads in bulk. Motorcycle jousting? The filmmakers even had the gall to get Anthony Hopkins to drop the movie's title into a rambling conversation. "Threat Level Midnight" was Adorkable. The MI2 plot was pulled straight out of a junior high writing assignment. But it's fun to reminisce about the shallowness of the early 2000s. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/25 Full Review Delilah M I’m giving it a one just because it was able to continue the franchise. It was completely useless with the woman, it never even added to the future movies. She was such a key part in it and they never even had her in flashbacks in the third! The scenes were way too slow, too much romanticizing every single thing, I thought it was cool he was climbing a cliff in the opening scene, beside that, it wasn’t really that action packed. Didn’t really understand how they went from action-packed #1 to boring, slow paced #2. Definitely when I’ll tell people to watch the franchise, they need to skip the second one. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/26/25 Full Review D3Z 1 The second instalment of Mission Impossible doesn't quite land from its previous film, despite the action sequences that still remained one of its strengths. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/25 Full Review Seanestro B It’s fun. But it’s dumb fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/21/25 Full Review Read all reviews
