Victoria Luxford BBC.com Great fun. A traditional Disney Princess film but with a little more depth to it, being abut personal discovery and bravery. Rated: 4/5 May 4, 2023 Full Review Edward Porter Times (UK) ... A great example of the studio putting a modern sheen on traditional formulas. May 1, 2023 Full Review Mey Rude Autostraddle It's a deeply moving and beautiful film that celebrates it's main character, her culture and her self-empowerment... but she could have been a lot more meaningful and authentic if she reflected and honored a specific Pacific Island culture. Jodi Moana is absolutely destined to be a classic Disney film that will last through generations! This film is just so beautifully done, and so enjoyable, even for adults that don’t have children! There are so many positive messages without all the ridiculous fluff that accompanies a lot of other Disney animated films especially ones with princesses. Barf. Moana story is inspiring to any little girls showing them that they can believe in themselves and be whoever they’re meant to be love love love this film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Barnabas loos half way through the movie the theater lights turn back on and the movie stopped playing due to a huge rainstorm that was accruing outside apparently the who movie theater was shut down and they couldn't get any of the movies back on line most of everyone in the theater just ended up leaving I tried to get a refund but they said no due to it being passed the time to get one but we never got to see the rest of the movie I knew it was going to rain but I didn't think that it would of had that kind of affect on a whole theater the way that it did unless they have bad wiring in and out of the place or leaks that where coming through the ceiling into electrical equipment idk but it was wired and it was my first time being at this one despite driving passed this one for over 30 years I still would of liked a refund though I didn't even get to finish my drink that I had gotten just minutes before hand Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/23/23 Full Review Katie D So good! the music reminded me of a combination of The Little Mermaid and Frozen - both favorites. I wouldn't be surprised if this wins Best Animated Feature Film this year! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/15/21 Full Review Gavin L Moana is like the goat and she’s like all I need is half a chance Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/24 Full Review Olena D Inspirational encouraging brave story full of love. Story is very profound and deep. This is exactly the kind of story you want to be telling you kids to teach them about life, heart and how to get through life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful story with a profound message. Amazing animation and endearing characters. The only problem with this movie is the excessive number of songs. Too many lame wordy pop songs diminish the impact of the few good inspiring ones. Even the script kind of acknowledges this fact half way through when Maui tells Moana "if you start singing, I'm gonna throw up." But just a few short minutes later, it breaks into yet another lame song. Disney needs to remember the most important aspect of story telling: less is more.
