Audience Member A delicate drama that effortlessly captures the idyllic atmosphere of its locations before hitting us with the heavy weight of a tragedy. It is only a pity though that the non-professional actors are not always that good and later on it starts to drift and become a bit repetitive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A nice film with some beautiful 16mm photography. It reminds me of Hou and Koreeda, plus some verite footage montages, though its use of repetition doesn't quite work as well as in a Hou film. I thought the aunt niece relationship was too vague and underdeveloped and the aunt's discontent with her life is left unexplored as well. Nontheless I like Kawase's style very much and look forward to her other films. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member poignant.........should have reviewed it sooner.
