Bryan M IMO, there are a few movies Sean Connery did that flew under the radar for a lot of fans: 'The Man That Would Be King', 'The Name of the Rose' and this movie. It's a great role and important movie that highlights the abuse and struggles of the Irish immigrants who were seeking better life in America. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review Peter W Overall, The Molly Maguires tells a compelling, engaging story, and it's a dramatic feature worth investing in. While the premise of a group of workers making a stand for themselves might not seem to be anything new in the present day, it is captivating. Viewers are left wanting to know if certain leading characters will ever get caught in the act. Leading actors Sean Connery and Richard Harris are great here, especially whenever the two share the screen. There are heartfelt moments as their new friendship grows. The ending; however, is slightly abrupt and somewhat rushed compared to the rest of the film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/12/23 Full Review delysid d this is one film i keep watching again and again. it's so amazing and sad that nothing like this can get made today~ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/06/22 Full Review Audience Member Interesting film that delivers a period not so portrayed in the cinema and is strengthened by the interaction between Harris and Connery. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member My favorite movie of all time. One sympathizes with both sides and is the only film I know where the main hero is also the main villain. It breaks the heart. Variety Staff Variety Occasionally brilliant. Jan 14, 2008 Full Review Tom Milne Time Out The trouble, as so often with Ritt films, is that the situation remains interesting rather than involving. But at least this detachment means that one has the leisure to savour the textures of Wong Howe's magnificent camerawork. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Roger Greenspun New York Times Realism without much reality, enormous care for the wrong details, historical accuracy and spineless dramaturgy.
